jezero le\u017ei v ledeni\u0161ko preoblikovani kotanji in vsebuje skoraj 100 milijonov kubi\u010dnih metrov vode. Po stari bohinjski \u0161ali vanj gre le eno vedro vode \u2013 \u010de je vedro le dovolj veliko. Jezerska kotanja se strmo spu\u0161\u010da, ni raz\u010dlenjena in je skoraj brez plitvin. Poleti se voda na povr\u0161ini segreje do 24 \u00b0C, pozimi pa pogosto zamrzne.
